Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Evening! Welcome to the I Been Broke blogging spot. My name is Todd and I am a black man who is on a serious budget. When I say serious, I mean peanut butter sandwiches and cheerios (well, not named brand Cheerios but the Kroger brand Honey Toasted Oats) type of budget. Yeah, it’s that real and its that real ’cause I BEEN BROKE and I don’t want to be there again.
If you have made it this far you are probably asking, why am I on this serious of a budget? Well, ‘cause I got bills, damn it! When I say bills, I mean lots of them. My goal is to pay off all of my debt in the next 24ish months. It’s going to happen, I have no doubt about it. That’s why I made this blog. This blog will not only keep me accountable for my actions, but it will also drop weekly budgeting knowledge and financial tips from a poor black man’s perspective.
To be honest, this blog will be place for all the people in the world who weren’t born with a silver spoon and a nest of egg of money (or a small loan of a million dollars… *Donald Trump voice*) to get them started in this world. This blog will be the place for all the people who are just like me; born into a single parent household, raised by extended family and the community around you, with just enough money to get by, in a place where nobody taught you how to make your money grow, well the legal way anyway. This blog will be for the Global Majority!
Hopefully, this blog will inspire you to take a different approach to handling your finances with a small amount of humor and “blackisms” along the way. In the words of Rick Ross, this blog will help you BUY BACK THE BLOCK and BUY BACK THE HOOD by taking control of your finances.
The hardest part of budgeting and taking back your financial freedom is having the will power and strength to do it. You will have to make sacrifices, so many sacrifices. But hey, this black man budgets and you can too if you follow my tips and tricks. Look for new blog post every Wednesday and Saturday.
